Taekwondo

Taekwondo is a Korean martial art with a heavy emphasis on head-height kicks, jumping and spinning kicks and fast kicking techniques. Taekwondo not only strengthen the body and spirit, it can also cultivate self-discipline during the course of learning the sport.

 

Montfort Pupils in this sport learn the CHRISTE values while mastering the skills and training for the different belt colors. We have a very experienced instructor for our budding pupils who are interested in learning Taekwondo.

Training fees is $80 for 4 terms after subsidy from the school.

Programme highlights/updates for 2017

We will be participating in National Inter Primary School Taekwondo Championship.

Achievements

In 2016, the boys achieved 8 bronze medals in the National Inter Primary School Taekwondo Championship.

Objective

  1. Pupils will be able to learn self-discipline from Taekwondo.
  2. Pupils will be able to learn basic blocking, kicking and punching skills.
  3. Pupils will be able to perform the correct poomsae for the required belt level.
  4. Pupils from green belt and above must know the sparring rules and be able to spar with protective guards.
